Our Patented Design

The Clean Air Curtain’s Patented design draws unfiltered air in—from both sides—and sends fresh air out the top in a high velocity curtain of “the cleanest air humanly possible”.

Here we see one horizontal plane of unfiltered air coming in to both sides of the three-dimensional model; blue is low velocity air flow. This graphic shows the velocity of a sample plane; air is actually drawn in from top to bottom and from front to back—and through the pre-filters on both sides.

Air Velocity Increases as it nears the blower intake

Here we see the air passing through the pre-filter, with increasing velocity as it is drawn into the blower. Air is a fluid, and just as a stream speeds up when it narrows, this air is drawn into a narrow opening—which means its velocity increases. The cleaning of the air begins with this step: 85% of particles are captured.

The air that has been drawn into the blower is now pushed into the supply chamber, just below the HEPA filter. Our optional UV-C treatment is applied at this point. The Ultra-Violet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) uses the UV-C band of light to inactivate— or “kill”—99% of active particles within seconds.

Here the higher velocity air is passed through our state-of-the-art HEPA filter—which is more than 3.5 inches thick and captures 99.995% of any particles remaining after the previous steps. The blue arrows show the uniform flow through the filter as it captures all particles.

Here the uniformly organized air flows through and out of the HEPA filter—note the curvature as it flows into and then out of the vent. At this point—as indicated above—the smaller opening leads to a significant increase in velocity: air leaves the Clean Air Curtain at approximately 2,500 feet per minute.

Here we also see the air curtain effect—which extends upwards to at least 20 feet, more if the ceiling is higher. Once it reaches the ceiling, it spreads evenly throughout the room, having a beneficial mixing effect, diluting any pathogens with the cleanest air humanly possible at distances up to 50 feet away.
